A Journey with Christ
In 1984, Chrysalis was developed as a youth counterpart to the Walk to Emmaus. It is designed for high school youth ages 15 to 18, the age when young people are beginning to make decisions about religion, lifestyle, vocation, and lifelong relationships.
Like the Walk to Emmaus, Chrysalis is designed to develop leaders, deepen faith, and revitalize the spirit. The Holy Spirit works through Chrysalis to awaken in youth a love and passion for God and to encourage them to live into the new life Christ offers.
What is a Flight?
The Chrysalis Flight calls youth to receive the dynamic friendship God offers through Jesus Christ. It inspires youth to become the unique and beautiful expressions of God’s image they were created to be. It calls them to grow together in the grace and love of Jesus Christ.
The Chrysalis weekend is offered separately for girls and boys to allow freedom to explore their relationship with God without worrying about how they may appear to the other gender. It provides an opportunity outside their local congregations or youth groups to grow in their faith alongside their peers.
Chrysalis is open to members of ALL Christian denominations.
What happens at a Chrysalis Flight?
Three days of singing, learning, laughing, worshiping, reflecting, praying and participating in small groups. Discussions center around fourteen talks given by youth, adult laity and clergy. These talks present the theme of God’s grace, how that grace comes alive in the Christian community and how it is expressed in the world. Youth discover how grace is real in their life, how to live a life of grace, and how share that grace with others.
